Interesting Stuff to Get/Do

Other than the billions of blogs on my Blogroll, I have some sites/other stuff that I recommend to all!

Websites

Google
Yes, I went there. Google. If you haven’t heard of it, you are a fruitpan. Figured I’d start with the easy ones, to ease you into the viewing process.
Penny Arcade
If you’re into videogames at all, this is a good read and a great way to suss out games before you buy. Especially if you’re in New Zealand, where games come out 6 months later than everywhere else. These guys are usually spot on in their reviews/opinions of games and the comics are funny too.
Cyanide and Happiness
If you haven’t heard of this, you are forgiven. I didn’t check it out ’til late last year. Lovely morbid, dark humour for those who have a darker sense of humour.
Youtube
Once again, if you haven’t heard of this, you are a meatsack. Youtube has become one of the biggest things on the internet and is widely accepted - even among the mainstream technophobes! Some videos of interest:

  • Interpretation of “Fucking Hostile - Pantera”, and anything else by Cheekydave777. Funny as hell, regardless of your musical listening tastes.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series (Episode 1). Couldn’t find the original one - I think it’s because he was kicked off for using copyrighted material. So, this link may be unstable. I’m, admittedly, a Yu-Gi-Nerd, complete with cards (though I’m recovering and intend to sell my expensive addiction), and this series of reworked Yu-Gi-Oh anime is pretty good. Even those without a liking for Yu-Gi-Oh would find it funny. Maybe.
  • Bah. Too many ‘Ask a Ninja’. Just search it. Funny also.
  • Same deal. And I couldn’t be assed. Search ‘GI Joe’, click one, and you’ll be rewarded with an uncontrollable urge to laugh.
Sidereel
The best place to go if you wanna watch any TV show from anywhere. Dal recently discovered this and it has been a great asset for watching shows we’ve missed/never got over here in NZ. I could list recommended TV shows, but if you look, you’ll find what you want.
Uncyclopedia
Think Wikipedia but with mis-information. Quite a ripping good laugh at times. Though it has a whole lot of shit (read: unfunny writers) to wade through to get to the grass underneath.
Neatorama
I guess this should go on my blogroll, but I see it more as a general interest site. Which is what a blog is. Bah!
The Skeptic’s Dictionary
For those times when someone is going on about fanciful things, like ghosts, ESP or even God, consult ‘The Skeptic’s Dictionary’.
The Best Page in the Universe (Maddox)
Angry guy with a computer. Ranting about stuff vehemontly. Pretty good reading.

TV stuff. You could probably just Youtube/Sidereel these or whatever.

Metalocalypse
This is one of the funniest shows of all time. It’s an Adult Swim show about a metal band called Dethklok and stuff that happens to them. Highly recommend acquiring. Also, don’t forget their album, ‘Dethalbum’. They make good metal too.
Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law
Another Adult Swim work of genius. Some guys used a whole lot of Hanna Barbera cartoon characters and put them in a legal setting. Check it out sometime.
Dexter
A TV show Dal and I recently finished on Sidereel. A damned good show and probably the only one that’s got me so involved in it. Bears a big similarity to…
Death Note
The best anime I have seen yet (I have yet to see Hellsing, which I hear is good). Though the concept doesn’t seem compelling at first, it quickly showed it’s worth.
Other animes: Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Trigun, etc
All of these are pretty damn good. Especially Samurai Champloo. That has a special place for me…
Family Guy and Southpark
Obvious ones that you should already know of. Family Guy is at its best in the first 3 seasons. Then it stales out a bit.

Games

Bioshock
Awesome FPS/RPG game with a gripping story. Nothing like harvesting a child for its symbiote.
Oblivion
Been a fan of The Elder Scrolls series since Morrowind, and Oblivion proves itself even better. Bit needy on the system specs though. Ooh! And don’t forget the extensive mod community for it. Makes the game 100x bigger.
Tekken
The king of fighting games. It has a stranglehold on me which I encourage to get tighter. I’m skilled with King, Lee, Feng, Bruce and Devil Jin.
Devil May Cry
So deliciously styley and addictive. Not to mention challenging. If I have a boy child, he’ll be called Dante.
Burnout
Fast, fun racing game. Though its fun-ness burns out quickly too. Get it? Ha!
Grand Theft Auto
Nothing like killing law-abiding citizens for no other reason than because you have a gun in your hand. The freedom in these games is the main pull factor. I spent more time playing around after I clocked the game than the storyline itself.
Final Fantasy
Excellent series of games for the RPG loving gamer.
Unreal Tournament
Fun, fast-paced shooter. Uh, nothing more to say.
The Sims
For a non-conflict game, this is surprisingly addictive. Good fun killing them too in devilish ways.

This list is by no means complete, but I can’t be assed adding any more.
